Utina Diving is a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre in Xlendi Bay, Gozo, located on the beautiful south coast of Malta’s sister island. Surrounded by crystal-clear Mediterranean waters and spectacular coastal scenery, it’s the perfect place to experience diving in Gozo and Malta.

Whether you’re taking your first breath underwater with a beginner course or advancing to professional-level PADI training, we offer a full range of scuba diving courses and guided dives in Gozo with modern, top-notch equipment.

Who are we?

We’re Aaron and Marion, passionate divers living on a small Mediterranean island. We met while diving here in Gozo and have since traded German Brezels and French croissants for Maltese pastizzi. When we’re not underwater, you’ll probably find us hiking cliffs, going for a run, or chasing yet another sunset BBQ. We’re always exploring every hidden corner of the island, above and below the surface, and we’d love to share our Gozo with you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Many divers are coming to Gozo and they don't know what to expect. That's why we've answered some of the most frequently asked questions :

We’re opened and dive all year long. During winter (December to March), the water is colder but the dive sites are less busy, you’ll have abundant sea life and have the sea for yourself. The water temperature is between 14°C to 16°C. From April, the weather is nicer and the water temperature increases, from June to October it can be between 24°C to 28°C but there’s of course more divers underwater! The temperature starts to decrease slowly back to 20°C in November.
You have to bring your swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and any proof of certification (if you have one). We provide water + snacks for our customers at the dive centre. If there’s anything you might think useful to bring, feel free to take it with you (such as dry clothes, any diving gear...).
At Utina we have a “Dive your tank” policy. Your dive time underwater will not be limited (like some other dive centres tend to do). We want you to get the most out of your dives, so we keep diving until the first diver of the group reaches 50 bar (safety reserve) and as long you feel comfortable.
It is! But be aware that it’ll depend on your certification level and the weather. We usually choose the evening before which dive sites we’re going as it’ll depend on the wind and waves. If the weather doesn’t allow us to dive a specific site, we’ll offer you another option + we’ll always try to accommodate your request the next days. When contacting us, feel free to list the ones you would like to do and we’ll do our best to make it happen!
As most of the wrecks in Malta are deeper than 18 meters, you’ll need to hold at least an Advanced Open Water certification and preferably the Deep Speciality if you want to get the most of it. If you’re an Open water diver, we can always offer you to dive on the P31 wreck situated on Comino Island, where we usually organize weekly boat trips there (from April to October). Otherwise it's a great opportunity to continue your education with an Advanced Open Water or Deep Speciality course to improve your knowledge and skills and to dive the wrecks!
Wether you’re coming for a first experience or fun diving, you’ll need to complete a medical form (Diver Medical). If you have any medical conditions listed on this form, we’ll ask you to get a medical ‘fit to dive’ from your doctor. If you can't get an appointment before coming to Malta, we can get you in touch with a local doctor on Gozo.
